There are three visibility settings: Everyone, Trusted Parties, or Only meThe recommended visibility setting for the vast majority of your ORCID record is Everyone.

Global Discoverability:

  • Publishers, grant funders, and potential collaborators use ORCID to verify your academic footprint.
  • An ORCID record has the potential to increase your online visibility, we recommend that you make as much information publicly available as you feel comfortable.
     

Trusted Organizations (Systems & Institutions)

  • What they can see: They can read any data you have set to Everyone and Trusted Parties.
  • What they can do: If you have granted them write permissions, they can add new works or update your profile.
     

You can change visibility at any time:
You can control what information is displayed publicly and what information you allow to be exchanged between systems.  For details, visit this site.
