NTU holds a statutory licence with CLASS (Copyright Licensing and Administration Society of Singapore).

Under this licence, multiple copying or communication is permissible for the purpose of a course of education conducted by the University, subject to the following conditions:

For literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works:

  • Up to 10% of the total number of pages, or 1 chapter (whichever is greater), or
  • Up to 10% of the total file size (for electronic materials).

For articles in periodical publications:

  • 1 article from a single issue, or
  • 2 or more articles from the same issue, provided they relate to the same subject matter.

Note: If such copies are made, NTU must maintain records of any such copying or communication, including the date it was done and that it was on behalf of NTU. Copyright owners may also submit a written request for remuneration within the prescribed timeframe after the copy or communication has been made.
