Starting 28 September, 2026,  NTU & NIE users can book a seat in advance at Lee Wee Nam Library (LWNL), making it easier for you to secure a study spot before heading down to Lee Wee Nam Library.

This follows a successful implementation in the Humanities & Social Sciences Library, which received positive feedback.

How does it work?

  • Time limits: Users can book one seat at a time for up to 6 hours per day in a single booking or multiple bookings.

  • Advance booking: Users can book up to 3 days in advance. For example, on a Monday, you can book a seat up to Thursday. The next booking window starts at 11.59pm.

  • Check-in: Please check in within 15 minutes of your reservation start time. Otherwise, your reservation will be automatically released so that other users may book the seat. Check-in can only be completed when location services are enabled on your mobile browser and you are physically present in Lee Wee Nam Library.

Which seats can I book at LWNL?

Most of the seats in LWNL will be bookable. Bookable seats will be labelled with a seat number and QR code.

Users can choose from the following seating areas in the different levels of Lee Wee Nam Library :

  1. Level 2 (16 Seats)

  2. Level 3 (133 seats)

  3. Level 4 (325 seats)

  4. Level 5 (276 seats)

The remaining seats in Lee Wee Nam Library are free seating and do not require booking. We encourage NTU & NIE users to use the bookable seats and external members to use the non-bookable seats.

Can I reserve more than one seat at a time?

No. Each user can only have one active reservation at a time.

I have a valid booking for a seat, but I see someone sitting at the seat. What should I do?

Please approach the person at the seat and inform them that you have booked that seat.

If there are unattended belongings at your booked seat, please approach the LWNL Service Desk or call 67905776, for immediate assistance.

What happens if I arrive 15 minutes after the booking time?

Your seat booking will be automatically released if you have not checked in. We encourage you to arrive at the library on time to avoid this.

Why do we need to book seats now?

NTU Library continually reviews and enhances its services to improve the user experience. One of the most common challenges highlighted by students is the difficulty of finding available seats, particularly during peak periods, often resulting in considerable time spent searching for a place to study.

With the introduction of SEAT @ NTU Library, you can check seat availability and reserve a seat in advance before coming to Lee Wee Nam Library. This gives you greater certainty that a study space will be available upon arrival, allowing you to spend less time searching for a seat and more time focusing on your studies.

Can I still book existing spaces (discussion pods, PCs, etc.) in Lee Wee Nam Library and other libraries?

Yes, you can still continue to book these spaces here.
