If you have publications or datasets with a DOI (Digital Object Identifier):

Method 1: Import Tool

  • Log into orcid.org
  • Go to the Works section of your profile
  • Click + Add works
  • Select Import works from other services
  • Choose Crossref Metadata Search for publications or DataCite for datasets and click Connect now
  • Authorize the connection when prompted
  • Search by author search or title search for your publication.
  • Select the works you want to add and click Add to ORCID

If a DOI isn't found, the work may not be registered with Crossref but you can still add it manually

Method 2: Add by DOI manually

  • In the Works section, click + Add works
  • Select Add work with a DOI
  • Paste your DOI (e.g. 10.18878/ssrn.123) and click Retrieve work details from DOI
  • ORCID will auto-fetch the metadata (title, authors, journal, year)
  • Review the details for missing fields.
  • Next, set the visibility setting for the work.
  • Click Add this work to your ORCID record
